My Life My Choice
It's my choice what clothes I want to wear, where I want to go, whom I want to go with, how long I want to stay out. It's my choice if I want sex or not. It's my choice if I want to Marry or not.
It's your choice what you want to wear, where you want to, whom you want to be with. It's your choice if you want sex or not, if u want to marry or not.
It's our choice!
Then why is the Country raging up for Women empowerment? Why is a girl raped in this country? Why are we bound by rules? Why is a guy punished for molesting a girl? Why is a guy/girl alleged for cheating on their partners? Why do we judge a person according to his dressing? Why do we judge their characters?
Why do you judge at all? After all it’s their life, their Choice.
But then... It's our life, it's our choice too. We chose to judge them, call them a cheat, punish them, rape them, and molest them.
And the chain goes on. The classic eye-for-an-eye scenario. It’s the repercussions and responsibilities of your choices that’s bothersome and that needs deep controlled thought.
The intention of the Vogue empower video was to wake up the people who are imposing their views and ideals on others. Those women joined hands in order to let them know, they are no one to decide a life for us.
Many of the men considered it to be Feminazism. Many feminists found it off the track. There has been too many opinions, outrage and support. Many to the point, many not so much.
Why do we need a Celebrity to talk about our choice?
Because she has already created an impact on people with her acting. She has fans, followers and thus the video could reach a greater crowd. There's nothing wrong about it. She was the Director's CHOICE.
What if the same things were said by men? Would it be accepted and appreciated by the people in same manner?
Now that's a crucial point when we are speaking of feminism. After all its all about equality.
The Intention and the presentation was crisp and loud but to some extent, it wasn't a Clear message.
"It's my choice to have sex before marriage or have sex outside marriage"
This single line has divided people into two groups. With more people, there will be different perspectives. Some took it in a positive way (which was the intention of the director), some took it in an offensive way. To have sex before marriage or after marriage is completely your choice. To have sex outside marriage is your choice too. But then, you are considered to be a deceiver. You deserve a punishment. You have a choice but you also have a responsibility, to judge that choice.
Just the way a man is accused, abused and punished for cheating on his partner, a Woman deserves the same punishment for the same deed. While it was their CHOICE to have sex outside Marriage, both men and Women. The consequences that would follow, is also their Partner's CHOICE.
The Nation has been split into two halves and the hatred seems to have grown heavier. Why? Because, if a Man would have said the same thing, the reaction would have been different. But a CHOICE is a choice, may it be a Man or Women. That's EQUALITY.
It would be a very foolish act to focus on this one line because it was made for a much greater cause.
Why do we need Women Empowerment? Because we live in a Country where the Constitution speaks about Equality based on gender and yet the Women are considered to be inferior to Men. Empowerment of Women is not because they want more but because they want what they deserve-To stand equally beside a Man.
There has been too many controversies regarding Women involved in the video because Men have their choices too. But, while arguing for a silly issue, they have ignored the grave part that NOBODY questions about the choices made by a Man. No one asks them to NOT stay out late at night. No one asks them to NOT go out with a person from the other gender. No one decides about what they should wear. And bashing a video that challenges that point over a single point nullifies all the good thing it stands for.
At the end of the day wasn't it important for women to come forward and speak out loud about their CHOICES? Nobody has the right to decide what a woman needs to choose for herself. Nobody has the right to decide for a Man too. Nobody but oneself must be accountable and in control of one’s choices.
The video was flawed in a way where it could not bring the nation to one conclusion. Rather, it divided the nation into "US" and "THEM". The whole point of Women Empowerment is disturbed.
Can't we uplift our mind a little?
It was all about letting a Woman make her CHOICE.
When nobody questions a Man's CHOICE, her Choices should not be judged as well.
It was certainly not something to be squandered over a petty issue. It may have been a little confused but such a powerful idea needs to be salvaged from having completely missed its mark.
To talk against the Video and to support it is your CHOICE. To understand, realize and act accordingly is your CHOICE too. To be Sensible about it, is your CHOICE.
To voice my opinion was my CHOICE and to think over it is your CHOICE!
